EXPERIENCED ARTICLES
Experienced Articles is a St. Michael’s owned and operated thrift store located at the corner of Jackson Road and Hwy 321. All proceeds are returned to the community through the Community Outreach Commission and St. Vincent de Paul. Staffed by one paid manager and volunteers from St. Michael’s.
NEEDS: Adult and teens to help sort donations and assist store customers.
Experienced Articles Thrift Store –
Located at 1111 South York Street (Rt. 321 South), Gastonia, NC 28052.
Open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM and Saturdays from 10:00 to 4:00 PM.
Donations are accepted Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Mission Statement - “To enable women, children, and families to procure affordable and essential clothing,
furnishings, and other merchandise to assist in their journey toward self-sufficiency”.
Experienced Articles has a wide variety of items for sale – clothing, furniture, household goods, baby items and much more. All of our merchandise is donated by individuals and local businesses. It is these many generous donations that allow us to keep our prices so low.
Experienced Articles would not be able to accomplish all that it does for our community if it were not for the
faithfulness of approximately 20-25 volunteers. Our volunteers include St. Michael parishioners and friends,
members of local helping agencies AND customers. We are indebted to these volunteers and our community is a better place because of these caring and supportive individuals.
Through excellent collaborative efforts with over 20 organizations (county/city agencies, schools, police
departments, mayor’s office, etc.) we are continuously helping our neighbors in need. These organizations refer pre-screened clients to whom we offer the opportunity to obtain needed items for free or for discounted prices.
A Spanish interpreter is available on a limited basis to create a more pleasant shopping experience for our Latino community members.
Special Sales –
$5.00 Bag sales during the first week of every month (the first Tuesday through Saturday).
50% off sales 3-4 times per year – usually associated with a major holiday or season.
Surprise bag, two-for-one, discount sales are offered.
Raffles (No Cost) – Holiday baskets are prepared by volunteers using donated items. There are usually
3-4 baskets per holiday and they are created for specific age groups.
Raffles (Minimal Cost) – Donated items are raffled off periodically throughout the year.
