Dear Parents,

We are excited about this year's Faith Formation program that is set to begin with a parent and student meeting on September 9 at 8:45 in the Parish Center.  It is required that you attend this meeting with your child.

There have been a few changes made in order to make registration easier. We have a form that will be kept as your child's permanent record.  This form is due back at the office on September 2nd with a registration fee of $50.  Each year following, there will be a shortened form asking for changes of information.

Also included is a handbook on the policies of St. Michael's regarding religious education. Please take the time to read through it.  As the Catechism of the Catholic Church tells us "Parents have the first responsibility for the education of their children." (CCC 2223) Our Faith Formation program provides a sound curriculum and dedicated catechists to help you fulfill this vocation.  We appreciate that you take your responsibility seriously.

If your child is in grade 6 - 12, he/she is eligible to be a part of the Youth Group. The Youth Group meets monthly with some additional activities.  These youth spend time together spiritually, giving of their time in works of mercy, and building up community within the Catholic Culture.

If you have a child that is preparing for the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation, there will be additional classes and retreats that are required. Please see the calendar that is included.  The diocese requires regular attendance as formal religious education for the two years prior to receiving a Sacrament.  We consider 95% attendance to be regular: therefore this year students may miss a maximum of 2 classes. If your child has attended Religious Education class in another parish, please request a letter from the Pastor or person responsible for Religious Education in that parish.

In order to provide a positive and proper environment for studying our Faith, our dress code has changed. Please read the handbook section on page 12.  We look forward to seeing you on september 9 at 8:45.

                                                                                           Sincerely Yours in Christ,

                                                                                           Father Arnsparger
