Editors Note: Thank
you to SK Charlie Dow again and to all the men who spent the hours
necessary driving buses & tractors at Lowe’s Motor Speedway over two
weekends to bring in some of the necessary funds to help us do what we do
to help others. For
anyone who wants to assist in the Fall, please contact Charlie and speak to
him as to the dates we will be driving next time. Please
see inside for some photos of the men from the second weekend, sorry if we
did not get every one’s picture. John

Deputy Grand
Knight Report
I
want to thank all those Knights who volunteered to drive buses at the race
track for the two weekend events last month.
Your efforts are greatly appreciated by all of us and the money you
earned will help us to continue to our support for our various charities. We are looking for new ideas on how to raise
additional money. If you have an idea
please let us hear from you.
The
Grand Knight and I attended the Knights of Columbus North Carolina State
Convention which was held in Historic New Bern on May 15-17. Our Council won several awards for the work
you did last year. I heard several good
comments on how well our Council functions from other Knights who had attended
our meetings. The Grand Knight will
report on the convention at the meeting.
Pope
Benedict XVI has named this year the “Year of the Priest”. We are encouraged to promote the priesthood,
support our local priests and seminarians.
Some time during the coming year we want to have a dinner to honor all our
priests in our area. Our District Deputy
is working hard on setting that up.
LAMB
is coming soon, so please plan to help us, as this is our fundraiser to help
those in our own community. In the past
years your turnout has been great and again this year we ask you to support us during
our LAMB drives. When you get that call
be ready to sign up. If you do not get a
call it may be because we do not have a good telephone number for you and need
you to tell us how to contact you. We need everyone.
Again,
remember the Knights lead the Rosary before the 1st & 3rd
Saturday 5 PM Mass. Most times there are not enough Knights present to lead and
we have to use parishioners to recite the rosary. I would ask all of you to make a special
effort to participate in one of these two days each month. Brother
Elections
will be held at the monthly meeting in June and we will begin a new Fraternal
Year in July. We will be looking for several Knights to step up and assume a
leadership role to fill vacant positions. If you are interested contact the
Grand Knight. Remember, your presence at our monthly meetings and socials are
important to all of us. Try and make a
commitment to attend both of these functions.
If
you are not involved, and you once were, we need you to be involved again.
Vivat
Jesus,
Tom

We had 20 drivers this time beating last
October by one.
To any of the drivers who did not get
their pictures in please forgive me as I was away for the first weekend in
Charlie Dow indicated that our Council
should make around $4,900 for our efforts. I hope those who have never done
this decide that next October, they would like to be a
part of this event also.
Very special
thanks goes out to SK Charlie Dow for all he does to keep us doing
this time after time.

any 3rd Degree Knight would like to join a new second degree team or

It is
time to step up to the plate and help.
I
