Quarterly Newsletter
March 2010

Grand Knights Report – Greetings and welcome to our quarterly newsletter.  With the cost of postage increasing the council has decided to change our newsletter from a monthly mail out to a quarterly email with copies being placed at the church and parish center for those who do not have email.  If you have an email address and we do not have it on file let us know and we will add you to our list.

The Program Directors have a lot planned for this coming year and need your help in making this our best year ever. We may not have seen you in a while and a lot of things have happened in that time. I would ask you to make time to come to one of our future business meetings and bring your family and join us at a monthly social. At some point in time you were an active member why come back and join our team.

Valentine Day Party - We had a great time, thanks to everyone who volunteered to setup, serve food and clean up after the party.

St. Patrick’s Day Party – Saturday March 20, 2010. If you do not have your tickets contact John O’Daly or Mark Ruocco,

If you have not visited our council web site you should.  We keep it up-to-date and have a calendar of events to keep you informed.  www.kofc6700.com.

Remember the Rosary on the 1st and 3rd Saturday before the 5 PM mass. It is a Knights function so come and join us.

LAMB – This year we have selected Friday April 30 and Saturday May 1 and Friday September 24 and Saturday September 25 as our LAMB weekends.  Please mark your calendars.  We have also picked up two Bi-Lo stores this year.  One on S New Hope Rd and the other on Union Rd along with the K-mart, Compare and hopefully the two Wal-mart stores.  This means we will really need you help to man all these store.

Church Committee Report – In January we held the Pride in Our Priest dinner at St Michaels. Brother John O’Daly did an excellent job organize this event.  We had over sixty people attend this dinner.

Council Committee Report – Council has been busy with the Valentine Day and St Patrick Day celebrations, state raffle tickets, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Degrees.  Thanks to everyone involved in the degree team for making all this possible.

Community Committee Report – Several Community projects have been completed.  Ryan Gawronski organized a group to help with St Michael’s team on the community Project Hope. This is really a great opportunity to give something back to your community. If interested contact Ryan.

Family Committee Report – The doughnuts and dogma continues, thanks to Sam Ybarra and his family for setting up and cleaning up each week.  Bryan Gawronski is busy working with the Youth Group planning the living Stations of the Cross.  Anyone interesting in helping with this committee contact Bryan.

Youth Committee Report – This has been a busy time for Youth with the Council and District Free Throw Contest and then on to the State Contest was we had three winners.  Youth Basketball is well underway and sign up for Baseball are on going.  If you would like to be a baseball coach contact Ray Kurtiak or Mark Terrio.

Membership Committee – Membership is doing a great job.  We are at 175% of our membership goal this year thanks to a couple of well organized blitzes.  We still need to work on our insurance goal for this year.

Upcoming Events –

Annual Egg Hunt sponsored by our council. Contact Bryan Gawronski to help with this event.

35th Anniversary Celebration - Our 35th Anniversary Celebration will take place on Saturday April 17, 2010 at the City Club.  Advanced tickets are required.  We will be honoring all the Past Grand Knights for their leadership throughout all this years. This event is open to everyone who would like to join us in this celebration.

Race Track Bus Drivers - May is a big month for our council at the race track.  We have an opportunity to drive buses for 5 days which means the more who volunteer the more money we can make.  If you have not participated in the past now is the time to get on board.  The work is easy and the money we make helps us to fund council activities.  Contact Charlie Dow to sign up today.

Elections of Council Officers for the 2010/11 fraternal year will be held in May.  Consider putting your name on the ballot.  If you are a 3rd degree knight you can serve as a Council Officer.

4th Degree - Exemplification is schedule for October in Concord.  This is a great opportunity to join the 4th Degree.

If you have any input or suggestion on how to make this quarterly newsletter better let me knows.

Fraternally,
