St. Michael’s Sister Parish
Chacraseca, Nicaragua 2005
History
In 1991, St. Michael’s Sister parish entered into a covenant with the church of Sacred Heart of Jesus and the community of Chacraseca, Nicaragua.
Approximately 7,000 people reside in the impoverished community in Central America. The primary mission and emphasis of the Sister Parish has been directed to the educational, medical, dental and humanitarian needs of the people interfacing in a Spiritual and Christian environment.
Financial assistance for our Sister Parish in Nicaragua is provided by friends of the committee, enabling the support of the many community projects. Providing clean water is one of the major needs.
Education and medical needs are of high priority, as well. St. Michael’s Sister Parish devises innovative ways to improve the quality of life in the third country.
Projects vary in size, cost and preference. For many donors, finding a project is a great way to establish a link with the poor schools as well as medical clinics. Our corporal and spiritual works of mercy have helped them cope with their material and social distress. However, the suffering for most people is a lack of clean water, food and medical needs. Natural disasters and political unrest have taken their tool on the country.

" Most of the time people don't know the existence of the poor - they don't look back and see. So when people, ask me, what I can do, it is to come and see. See what you can do. Mother Teresa"
