ALTAR SERVERS

Altar servers assist the Priest at the Liturgy of the Church at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and
Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. They are servants of the worshipping community and therefore
should exhibit a reverence and love for the Lord and the prayer of His Church. Servers must have received
the Sacraments of First Penance and First Holy Communion.

Altar Server Training is held periodically at the church.

To be an Altar Server at St. Michael's Parish, you must agree to the following:

• Attend 2 workshops a year
• Be available and attend extra practices for special ceremonies
• Be at Church 15 minutes before the Mass you are scheduled to serve
• Wear “Sunday Best” clothes for Mass; no shorts or tee shirts
• Wear dress shoes: no tennis shoes, sneakers, sandals, platforms, flashing shoes, flip flops etc.
• Have hair well groomed, cut short or pulled back; no Mohawks, don eagles, etc.
• Wear no earrings Wear no jewelry other than religious medals
• Wear no make-up or colored nail polish
• Have no tattoos
