This year has been a transition
year for all families to begin to re-place the student’s school uniform
wardrobe with the new branded uniforms. Uniforms
are a great part of the tradition of Catholic education. The purpose of a uniform is to bring greater
discipline, focus on studies, self-discipline, and equality. We are very proud of our school and show our
pride by wearing our school uniform properly & proudly.
As a reminder, for the
2009-2010 School Year, ALL
uniform white polo shirts, t-shirts, oxford shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants,
warm up suits, and pullovers must have the logo below:

Other Important Uniform Information Reminders:
In addition to your child
wearing the proper branded uniform pieces, this is a good time to evaluate
other uniform guidelines.
Skorts
(K-5)/Kilts (6-8) - All Skorts/Kilts should be purchased by the uniform
supplier. It is important that all the
girls wear the same standard uniform with the proper length.
Jumpers (K-5) - Please make sure that the jumper is the proper length
for your child. Jumpers should NOT have the logo above or any
other logo or patch on them.
Sweatshirts/Sweatpants/Warm Up Suits - As outlined in the uniform policy earlier this year, the
new hunter green monogrammed sweatshirts will continue to be a part of
the PE uniform. Beginning in August
2009, students in grades 2 and above will need to wear the new monogrammed PE
warm up suit pants, no sweatpants. Students in Kindergarten through first grade
may continue to wear the monogrammed sweatpants. All sweatpants/Sweatshirts
must be hunter green and have the embroidered logo shown above. Pre-K students
will continue to wear the PE Uniform sweatshirt and sweatpants.
Pants/Shorts - Uniform pants/shorts should be the proper material and
style. Please ensure pants/shorts are
the proper length and size for your child.
SHORTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED ON
MASS DAYS FOR ALL STUDENTS REGARDLESS OF SEASON.
Belts - When your child is wearing pants or shorts, they should
have their shirt tucked in with a belt at all times.
Shoes – Dress shoes
are mandatory for Mass days and must be black, brown or navy leather with
rubber soles. Girls must wear socks or tights in either navy, tan, or white with dress
shoes. No tennis shoes to mass. PE shoes should be white or gray, and should
be worn with white socks. PreK shoes must be Velcro. The
follow shoes should never be worn to school: Flip Flops, Crocks, Open Toed
Shoes, Hiking Boots, Heelys, Heels or Low Back Tennis Shoes. PE shoes must be worn with white socks.

We are very thankful to all

School Uniform Statements that apply to all students:
Hairstyles are to be
traditional in nature. Girls are not permitted to wear make-up. Lip moisturizer is allowed. Clear nail polish is the only acceptable
color. Dyed hair is not permitted. T-shirts under knit shirts should be plain
white (no logos). Collared white knit
shirt should have no logos other than the current monogrammed Saint Michael
Catholic School crest & logo. A
solid, plain white turtleneck is allowed under sweatshirts or school
cardigan. Watches are allowed; no
jewelry other than scapulars and stud-type earrings for girls. No jewelry is allowed to be worn during
PE. Only the most current Fun Fair
T-shirt may be worn on PE days. Baseball
caps/hats are not permitted. All clothing should be labeled with the child’s
last name.
All clothing is to be
“fitted” in style. Baggy pants or other
baggy clothing is not permitted. Tight
fitting, “stretchy” fabric pants are not permissible. Pants/slacks/shorts must be worn at the waist
with a belt. Shirts must be tucked in at
all times. A belt is required if there
are belt loops on the student’s garment.
Shorts, skorts, and jumpers must be purchased by the uniform supplier,
and must not be shorter than 2”
above the knee. Appropriate
undergarments (camisoles, bra, etc.) are to be worn when physical development
warrants its use.
Free Dress Day: Free Dress Day is a PRIVILEGE
NOT AN ENTITLEMENT. This day is solely
at the discretion of the Principal.
Students are expected to wear weather-appropriate clothes. Shirts are not to have inappropriate sayings,
profanity or inappropriate pictures on them –same with pants/shorts. No tank tops/spaghetti straps are allowed. Shorts/skirts/skorts/dresses must not be shorter than 2” above the knee. Any clothing deemed
to be unacceptable by the Principal will be required to be removed and replaced
with acceptable clothing. All other
rules still apply.

Students are only required to purchase those garments that they will
wear. All pieces are not required.
Pre-K : Summer:
Green shorts, Gym T-shirt.
Winter: Green sweatpants &
sweatshirt, gym shirt or white turtleneck underneath. Velcro tennis shoes every
day.
Kindergarten and First Grade: Continue with
sweatpants from Pre-K. Remainder of uniform policy below.
SHOES FOR ALL K-8: Black, brown,

CHANGE IF ALSO A MASS DAY). Girls must
